Once the surgery was here
The Doctor was a friend. He listened to his patients, consoled them and reassured them with a paternal and understanding way.
He also prescribed medicines, but more often he recommended remedies, including empirical ones, also derived from the peasant tradition, with plants and herbs of natural origin.
When the patient got up to leave, if he was elderly and maybe leaning on his cane, the Doctor accompanied him to the door and helped him down the three steps of the entrance.
Grateful villagers often brought him a chicken, a flask of wine, a few eggs ...
The Doctor raised his eyes behind the lenses of his glasses and accepted, so as not to offend the donor.
He knew it was indeed an act of reverent gratitude and deference.
