To Lucia's vases: there was the ballroom
The Maranzana ballroom has been here for a long time. And here young people from all the surrounding villages also came to dance.
For the music there was no problem: real musicians played with real orchestras.
This room was renowned and opened its doors every year in S. Giovanni (patron saint of the town) on June 24 and in S. Emerenziana (to which the parish church is dedicated) on October 21.
But the most anticipated dance was the dance of the levers. Wonderful opportunity to celebrate a unique and unrepeatable event in the life of a young man who was approaching maturity!
The beautiful girls of Maranzana sported the most elegant dress for the occasion. Some of them were accompanied by their mother who was sitting but carefully monitoring the behavior of the daughter. At the exit, the girls greeted happy, warm and smiling.
The young people, on the other hand, continued to sing on the street, until the small hours.
